Harrison KatzStarting when I was in the 7th grade, I took part in a program called WAYA Champs. WAYA Champs is an organization at the West Austin Youth Association where volunteers work with both mentally and physically disabled kids. The program is designed to teach these kids how to play sports, get active, and interact with other kids. As I have been involved with this program over the years I have fallen in love with it. Working with the kids and having an opportunity to get to know them has been an amazing experience for me. I feel that being in this program has opened me up to a world of issues that I was unaware of and knowing the hardships that some of these kids have gone through has made me want to advocate for them and take a stand.
